Collection: Vegetable Tanned Leather

Vegetable tanned leather is possibly the oldest method used in leather production today.  Vegetable tanning involves soaking the skins in pits from between 6 months and a year. Good things come to those who wait!

The use of natural vegetable tannins alters the integrity and structure of the hide allowing it to become a thicker leather with more body and character. This makes vegetable tanned leather ideal for hand stitching and wet moulding work such as saddlery, harness making, luggage and small leather goods.

Another highlight is that it ages well and develops a rich patina, which is attractive and desirable. Plus, it has that unmistakable classic leather aroma!!
